چکیده

In this paper, cylindrical metallic cavities used in the processes of dielectric materials heating and drying by microwave energy, are discussed. Their mode tuning behaviour under different loading and excitation conditions has been presented. A short review of techniques used for modelling and analysis purposes as well as the numerical results mostly experimentally verified are given.

Numerical Analysis of Cylindrical Cavities Used for Microwave Heating, Employing the Mode Matching Technique

The analysis and design of a cylindrical cavity for microwave heating applications, including the feeding mechanism is proposed in this paper. The cylindrical cavity design aims at the production of a uniform field distribution, avoiding non-uniform heating and thermal runaway. The analysis of the device is based on the Mode Matching Technique. This has been proved to be an efficient and robust...

Simulation model for moving food packages in microwave heating processes using conformal FDTD method

A numeric model was developed to couple electromagnetic (EM) and thermal field calculations in packaged foods moving in pressurized 915 MHz microwave (MW) cavities with circulating water at above 120 C. This model employed a commercial EM package with a customized heat transfer sub-model to solve EM field and thermal field equations. Both methods applied finite-difference timedomain (FDTD) meth...

Heating Performance Assessment of Domestic Microwave Ovens

Due to inherent nature of standing wave patterns of microwaves inside a cavity and dielectric properties of different components in a food, microwave heating leaves non-uniform distribution of energy inside the food volumetrically. Achieving heating uniformity plays critical role in improving the safety of microwave heated products. In this paper, we present a method for assessing heating unifo...

Computer Simulations of Microwave Heating with Coupled Electromagnetic, Thermal, and Kinetic Phenomena

─ A new functionality for the hybrid electromagnetic – thermodynamic simulations of microwave heating scenarios in the time domain is presented. The new functionality consists in the modelling of the heated load movement throughout the simulated process. Various types of the movement trajectories have been allowed for, including load rotation and load translation along user-defined piecewise-li...
